Hmmm both very very great bands, but I believe Nirvana is pretty outstanding because they started a lot of it all :) yup. But Pearl jam is flippin amazing as well.

Of those 2, Pearl Jam. Favourite song: indifference.
You could have included Alice in Chains and Soundgarden!
AiC = Nutshell, Rooster
Soundgarden = The Day I Tried to Live, Room a Thousand Years Wide.
and we could go so much further than that.
Pearl Jam and Nirvana were not the only grunge bands.

Although Nirvana was good - Pearl Jam is the best, by a long shot. I started listening to them right when they came out while I was in high school. After No Code, I just stopped listening to them for a few years. I started again in 2003, and I am sooooo glad I did - they just keep getting better and better. Each album I hear sounds like it could not get better, then they release another album that is even more amazing. By far my favorite band - incredible live in concert and their newest album is played daily on my ipod. Check out their live stuff - very impressive and always evolving.
