Not all white people like rock, there are blacks that hate rap and love rock. I love both rap and rock. They just have a different taste of music. I bet you would say the same thing about a genre of music you don't like

I wish I could tell you , but I don't have the answers to that. I'm not a fan of the current mainstream hip-hop game, but not again I'm not a fan of the mainstream rock thing going on either. I don't seem to have the sources to see what is coming from the underground in hip-hop but I'm sure there are a lot of fresh ideas coming out that haven't been marketed by the record companies. To me that's the problem with the whole corporate music structure, find one act that will sell to the masses and the next thing you know, the labels are signing up 50 other acts that are basically copycats of what are making them money in the first place. I have a very diverse pallette...from hip-hop to rock, from blues to bluegrass, from country to jazz. To me it's all about making music that comes from the soul and makes a person feel. Like everything else, there is some great hip-hop that has been put out over the years - it just seems that you really have to search for it harder these days.

Rock fans are not all white. I love rock and hey I'm hispanic. And I guess the people that get into your questions and say the hate rap just want to answer to get 2 points. I don't answer a question that I don't know. Rap and hip-hop are the same to me. But I'm not insulting them cuz it's music and every person has the right to liking different types of music.

that's because the some 'rock fans' are biased and think that hip-hop listeners are beneath them. I love rock and i'd choose it over hip-hop anytime, but ANSWER the damn question don't send hate and give a whole explanation about why hip hop is the worst piece of crap someone could listen to.

just don't reply to the hate

I think a lot of it is what people have been raised on. If you'r parents grew up listening to The Stones, then your going to grow up listening to newer rock. If your parents grew up listening to Grandmaster Flash, your going to grow up listening to newer hip hop.

Unlike some rock fans, I don't think that rap doesn't require skill, and I don't hate it. If you actually listen to some of the good stuff, the lyrics are incredible and the way they deliver them is something the vast majority of people could never do. People who say that all rap is "Retards Attempting Poetry" are fooling themselves.

I think it just comes down to personal preferences, and what you were raised on. I don't like it much because it just isn't my thing. I'm more into Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and classic rock, as were my parents, and people who like rap were probably raised on rap just like their parents.

Some of the older hip-hop, like the Beastie Boys, Run DMC, and Afrika Bambaataa were awesome.

I personally like some hip-hop (Outkast is great), but for me some gangsta rapper isn't really something I can relate to growing up in the boonies of NJ(yes they do exsist) or living in the boonies of SC. Old school rap (Run DMC, Public Enemy, yes even before the thing w/ Anthrax) I'm cool with. But the newer stuff just doesn't appeal to me. The only urge to bother rap fans I have is to yank the speakers out of their car when their stereo's so loud it's shaking my windows.

I am white and I HATE ROCK. I have been listening to rap since I was 11. I am 32 and I make up my own mind on what I want to listen too. And to clarify, rap isn't all about sex and violence. If you listened to rap that wasn't on the radio ( underground rap ) you would see alot of the music is intelligent and thought provoking. How does the saying go? Sex, drugs and rock n' roll! Their goes the logic of rock fans out the window!

because rap and rock our completly opposite and anyone who is a hardcore rock fan can not tolerate the huge difference in sound and lyrics that rap has. I am a big rock fan but i will admit some rap is alright to listen to, but the rest is just stupid to me and the lyrics blow and have no point to them. but maybe thats just me because i a rocker!

I don't like the three r's in music. Rap, Redneck or Rock. However as long as it is not being forced on me and you don't pull in a driveway next to me with thump thump thump, I really don't care. When you pull into someone's driveway, turn it off or down before opening your car door. Remember they have neighbors.
In music what one enjoys another person finds offensive. I don't like to hear obscene language and the most obscene word is the f word.
I pledge not to impose Pavarotti or Bocelli on you if you don't force Rap on me.
