To the person who said I would need to open a facillity and hire employees: Im not talking about a bunch of them, just like one tiger.

To the person who asked how many I have handled: I had my picture taken with both an adult and a baby at a fair I went to. And I was allowed to feed one at a zoo I went to.

Why not just admire their beauty from afar.. People are always trying to domesticate while animals, rather than appreciate them for what they are, they want to try and tear them out of their element and make them unhappy. Why would a tiger want to be couped up in the house??????? Leave the tigers alone!

please don't the exotic pet trade is a horrible thing for an animal to go through, they but it through tough and cruel conditions which can be stressful and even fatal to the animal. also you would be taking an endangered species out of its natural habitat into a place where you would never be able to fully meet there needs. even if you raised it from birth it would still posses an instinct that it can never grow out of. captivity can also be very stressful to an animal you will never be able to meet their needs, their need is to the wild, and a captive animal can never experience it. they should be entitled to every right as a wild animal and i despise anyone who denies that right to them. we have already taken so much from the animals on this earth, are you really so selfish to deny a life to an animal? let it live its life away from people please don't get a tiger, it's wrong, cruel, inhuman, and selfish. if you really love tigers keep them in the wild and have nothing to do with having them in captivity even if it is born in captivity it makes no difference. tigers are not love able creatures, they can easily harm you. they are beautiful in the wild, keep it that way.

Most places in the US you have to get a special license (which you have to qualify for by proving certain things) to keep "exotic' and especially large animals. Like if you're a tiger rescue society and can prove you have the resources, skill, manpower, background, etc. to maintain and care for tigers for a long, long time (short term doesn't count). Otherwise, see if you can volunteer at the local zoo in their tiger display or, if the zoo is big enough, in their baby tiger raising area. Or if you are old enough, look into volunteering at a tiger rescue place for several months/years. Most tiger-keeping places won't be able to pay you since all their money is going to maintaining the animals.

I live near people who raise tigers, wolves, emu, cougars and so on. I've been to the residence a few times through the years because a friend of mine is related to them and they also used to allow the public to visit. They have it set up as something of an exotic animal sanctuary with adequate space, lots of cages and high fencing and such. You should check with your local community and business commitees and authorities for all of the proper forms and licenses you need to obtain. Each area is different and it's possible you may not be allowed to have such an exotic pet. You will also have to find a veteranarian who deals with exotic animals such as tigers and you will be required to keep all of it's shots and such up to date and in most cases, share such information with the local authorities. If you plan to let the public view the animal than you will need special licenses for that as well. The animal probably wont be allowed to dwell in the house due to lack of space so you'll need a decent sized area for it, as well as shelter, and high fencing around the animals area to keep it from getting out and possibly attacking another member of the community or their pet or whatever. Having an exotic pet requires a bit more money and effort and lots of rules to follow. Be prepared for well-known animal cruelty and protection agencies to possibly contact you and hassle you the moment even the smallest issue arises... but as long as you can properly care for the animal and obey all of the rules and regulations, than everything should be fine. Good luck. :)

you could have a tiger, but its highly NOT recommended... even if u did have the tiger as a small cub the tiger would still have to be caged up for its whole life after cub hood is over. tigers are wild animals and while they may be tamed they will never be domesticated therefore they could attack at any moment that their instinct takes over. not only that but you would have to take a wildlife course to be a foster parent for wild animals. its not hard to get, but most of those animals go to reserves or zoos.
personally i dont like to see wild animals in someones back yard because they think it would be fun or cool to look back there and see a wild animal. not only that but a lifetime in a cage is no life at all

It depends on your town's laws. If it is legal in your town, you would probably have to have a license to own such an animal. You would definitely be required to have a way to keep it confined to your property.

Remember, a tiger isn't just an oversized kitty. No matter how much it trusts you and "loves" you, it is still a wild animal, and it can turn on you at any time.

How can I put this nicely... Do NOT BE AN IDIOT. They are called wild for a reason. Ever tangled with an angry 20# house cat? Add 400# to that and claws 12" long. First it is cruel to the animal but second, it will never work and it will have to go to a zoo or be destroyed. Do not do this.

How many tigers have you been around and handled first hand to know you love?

They are not pets, many trainers and handlers who has been with them since they were cubs have been killed or maimed by them one they became adults, that is because they cannot be domesticated, the end result the tiger is then killed. It is very unfair and cruel to put any wild animal in an enviroment that is was not meant for

No, not in your home. But if you started a facility and were properly trained, then licensed, maybe. I have seen specials on TV about some guy who raises abused tigers. But it would cost a fortune, you wouldn't have time for a job, and you would have to hire employees. If I were you I would become a zookeeper. (seriously I would, no joke)
