yes, because he was creating a diversion to escape. he only killed the old dude as opposed to the whole clan.

good question. one could argue that's a homocide Wayne committed but then again it was his escape route. without the explosion, it would've been far too easy for the members of the clan to stop him from leaving.
also, and this is just fact, it's a movie - the explosion helps the story-telling part of the production (I'm frowning at this explanation, though. Let's go back to bruce).
thing is, i'm thinking that he's also felt remorse for what happened. i'm sure he didn't mean for anyone to get hurt or to damage property. but i think that's part of his psychology, however subconscious this sounds: causing that explosion is his one step ahead in the battle. taste of their own medicine, one might say since the clan does have a perverted sense of justice.

The 'Dark Knight', does this term signify something about this guy's morality?
Batman used to be a nice person, now he's just a dark moody person with a negative look on life, scaring people from both sides of the law.
Anyway. Anyone that he didn't intentionaly killed mean that he didn't killed in the name of justice. The key here is 'intent to kill'.

When was Batman ever a nice guy? Even in the old comics he was never a nice guy. Only the tv show tried to show him as that. Even tho Adam West came off as an idiot half the time.

He was right. He was also correct in stating that if he kills, he won't be any different than the criminals he would be after.

I don't think that he really meant for the whole place to blow up, i mean what are the chances! Plus they probably would have killed him if he didn't kill that prisoner....
