Myths definition is impossible and yet in the story it is probable and possible for the hero or heroine. The hero or heroine is protected by the Divine, or an outside force. The shield is usually to show power and invincibility combined with the mythical and mystical powers of the supernatural. The hero or heroine is given a protection be it a shield in combat or a talisman to protect him/her from danger.

There are ancient Greek myths and some superheroes are found in ancient Greece, Hercules, had a shield to protect him against the Sirens.

The shield of Athena,

In the Bible, the Shield of David in the Bible it is mythical and mystical as it protects him in the name of God and it is now the symbol for the flag of Israel. David was also compared to the lion and myth says the city of Jerusalem is protected by the multitude army of cats.
