I cannot use thumb at all on my left hand. It is bent, and locked in a curled position. And I have limited control of other fingers on the same hand. But I have full use of right hand.I was an avid crocheter before my stroke 6 years ago and would like to do again, but do not know how I can,or where i can look for help.Any suggestions would be appreciated. Please only serious answers reply.

I found 2 sites that might help you.
http://www.allegromedical.com/daily-living-aids-c519/
http://www.abledata.com/abledata.cfm?pageid=19327§ionid=19327&top=15710
You might do a search, as I did for sites, to see if you can find anything you like better.
Crochet with hand disabilities is what I searched Hope I helped.

I hope nobody would spoof you on such a serious question! I have a friend whose thumbs also are numb from a stroke, and he pushes things INTO his thumb with the rest of his fingers on that hand.

I also have an adult son with autism, and whatever he has been able to do, he has had to invent the method for himself, because everyone's situation is different. Anyway, Maybe with the pushing method, you will invent a way to crochet that works for you? I'd love to hear how you progress.

I understand that there are adaptive equipment suppliers. Catalogs and web sites . Search on the web, there may be
something use can buy to help. You might get ahold of a stroke program(hospital or organization)that may have ideas or referrals for you. Hope this helps.

they make these little ring type things that you can slip on your finger and then adjust the tension on it. this may help with holding the yarn so you can focus on moving your hand to make the loops needed.
