Umm... they make PCIExpress cards now. This is the latest and greatest. They are better than AGP. AGP is on the way out. PCI has been out for quite some time now.

1. Not all motherboards have AGP slots but most have PCI slots.
2. To discontinue the millions of PCI cards that still fit todays motherboards in a week makes no sense.
3. It's a money game, best to sell what's left of them than dump them.

Not all motherboards have AGP slots. Almost all of them have PCI slots. Plus cost may be a factor. Many motherboards come with integrated video, but most server boards do not. They also don't have AGP slots on most of them. But they do have PCI slots.

Because people who are like my parents exist and insist on "upgrading" their old mother boards repeatedly to "save money"
They have the same machine that ran windows 3.1 until 1999.
As long as people like that exist, there is always a need for old technology.
