I know that there are guidance counslers in middle and high schools but I can't remember if they were in the elementary school. If so what are they there for? Middle and high school counslers help students schedule. What would the elementary school counslers do exactly?

Guidance councelors are in every elementary school. They may not be there full-time, but they are there. The amount of councelors and hours they work depends on the amount of students in the school.
In elementary schools guidance councelors serve several purposes:
-storing and updating permanent records for each student
-evaluating students behavioral needs for special education requirements
-to guide students on more personal issues not covered in classroom instruction, such as conflict/resolution, handling bullies, Just Say No Programs
-when a teacher suspects abuse or neglect they must report it to the guidance councelor - he/she then meets with the student and turns in a report to the state officials
-most elementary guidance councelors also are required to distribute state testing materials and to enforce the strict privacy rules associated with them
-they must take care of all transfer paperwork in and out of the school for every student (including those going to middle schools)
there are many other duties... this is just to name a few

When I was in elementary school we didn't have a guidance counselor.... that was some time ago, though.

I teach at an elementary school now, and we do have one. Our guidance counselor is multi-purpose. She goes into the classrooms and does series of lessons. For example, she has taught about bullying, including others, impulsive actions, inappropriate touching, etc.... She also has had small groups for children in "changing families" and for those who lack social skills for making/keeping friends. Additionally, she works with students on an individual level whenever it is necessary. Plus, she is involved in the intervention process and attends meetings with parents, teachers, and other support staff.

Yes. There is, generally, at least one guidance counselor in elementary school. They help children with developmental problems, speak to children about sexual abuse, teach the "stranger danger" rules, help children/parents with teacher issues, etc. That is how they functioned in my school, anyway.

yes, there are guidance counselors in every elementary school. i remember it from my former elemtary days...
in some schools i think they have something called 'peer mediation' which is where the counselor helps you solve problems that can deal with friends, family, or even personal issues. they are not allowed to repeat these conversations, of course, unless it deals with drug uses or something dangerous.

hope i helped!!
