Oh yeah you definitely need to focus on your academics first. Go to community after high school. You'll wind up in a better position if you took things slowly and build up your learning skills

Do your best

I don't think colleges pay any attention to it anymore because people can take easy classes and get good grades. That's why we did away with Valedictorian and Saluatorian or whatever it's called. They want to see that you challenged yourself. And if you're athletic, there are alot of athletic scholarships open to you, and if you're a minority. Not trying to be racist or anything but it gives you a better chance b/c they need those numbers. Focus on your ACT (that's what counts here) or SAT (some colleges accept one or the other or both, depending on the college) and taking challenging courses and be involved in different athletics or clubs to show that you are active and go above and beyond what is expected of you.

It's not really important these days at any univeristy. They look at your ACT or SAT score, what classes you took in high school, and (I'm sorry to say this) your race. Most schools are struggling to fill their minority quota, so if you are one, you probably have a better chance of getting in. I'm not being rascist, that's just the way things are (and it's how I got into college).
