On Pokemon Ruby, how do you get passed Team Magma in Slateport?

I need to know cuz my brother can't get passed them. I wanna know if there is a way to get rid of them so he can keep going on through the game. Please Help!!!

You haven't stated where abouts in the game you are so I'm assuming you're at the beginning of the game. Head into the ship building are and talk to the guy called dock (he's looking at some blue prints). He'll ask you to find Captain Stern. Once you've done that, head to the museum. You should find that the long queue is gone. Head inside the museum (it costs 50 to get in, so make sure you have that). You'll find lots of team magma goons around. One of them will give you a TM for thief, which does damage and steals the oppoments held item (If the oppoment has one and the user isn't holding one. Worth using since some wild pokémon hold rare items sometimes). Head upstairs and talk to Captain Stern. You'll then be attacked by some people from Team magma. As long as you have a solid water pokémon (Right now, Surskit, tentacool and mudkip are availible) you won't have much trouble since the numel's in their team will fold to water attacks (Numel are Fire/Ground, 4X weak to water) Once you've won both battles, there's a brief confrontation with Maxie, but luckily you don't fight him. Now you can continue.

It's rather simple. When you see Team Magma at the Museum, walk north to the route, then walk back. The grunts should be inside the museum. Go inside and be prepared for a double battle.

You go to the warehouse south of the muesem and talk to the guy with the blueprints. Go out and team magma should be gone.
