I'm looking for something to put in the cupboards, besides live traps (I have those), and besides keeping the food cleaned (done that, still have problem). I don't need cleaning tips, I need something that will keep them OUT, not catch them.... my house is 100 years old. We are finding mouse feces in the drawers with the utencils... Need something to keep them out... has to be an old timer's trick or remedy that is safe.
Steel wool didn't work... it disappeared.
I do appreciate the response's though, thanks.

1 yr. or 100 yr. you got to get rid of the mice! seal the house up, start at the foundation , fill any hole that is as big as a pencil, that's the rule, use a good duct seal or chauk , it is very likely that there are just a few spots that the mice use to make a entry , i have 2or 3 mice each year , there not there very long , they carry all kinds of disease, I'll bet that in one afternoon you could seal the house, then start to trap them, use only victor traps, and i always number mine 1 2 3 4 so i keep score , the trap that doesn't kill is thrown out, buy more, there cheap , to catch the little babies you need cotton hooked at the bait tang and work the peanut butter in good, there teeth get hooker on the cotton and there dead, keep the traps active, these mice are having liters every 30 days. if you don't do anything they will run you out, make you sick, and mice will eat anything , wire, wood , cloth you name it. if your problem is bigger then i think you may want to call a exterminator, no one should have to live like that! like the guy said , put ground up hot dry pepper in the cupboards and draws. Good luck , .

DR.V has the right answer. The only problem is where to find them at this time of the year. They are a fall-harvested thing.
