Lowe's, hands down. I have moved about 12X in 16 yrs and no matter what city my husband is relocated to, the Lowe's are always cleaner, brighter, better organized than Home Depot. More helpful people at Lowe's, too. When I go into Home Depot, I always feel like the aisles are too close together and that the stuff is going to fall down on me. Stuff is always strung all over the place, birds flying in and around the store, etc. Home Depot sometimes cheaper for the stuff that we need and my husband will go for this, but when it is up to me, I choose Lowe's.

The Depot is designed for contractors...so they have a lot of bulk items...and Lowes is for homeowners...so they have more designer, home decor items.
I like Tony Stewert in the Home Depot race car...but Jimmy Johnson has the same color Monte Carlo as I...
I cant really pick a favorite...they both fill a need for me

Lowes because Home Depot has some issues with shoddy workmanship and warranties going on right now. I would buyer beware of them.

home depot is ridiculously high, lowes isnt that much better. I go to menards, their prices are reasonable, and seem to have a wider selection

In general i see lowes is much cleaner than homedepot.
Employees at homedepot are not much helpful. Dont expect any answers for your questions related to the products.
It varies from store to store. So your experience may be different.

I have done many home improvemnt projects in the past five years and we have found time and time again that Lowes is cheaper and has more items to choose from. We are lucky because they are both within five miles from our home and across the street from each other.
