The barrel of the bat may be no more than 2-3/4 inches in diameter at its thickest part. To get the handle to perfectly fit your hands, take a vinyl or cloth tape measure - available a sewing-goods store - and measure some of the bats that feel comfortable to you at a local sporting goods store. Don't forget to add the knob at the end of the handle - it's there to keep the bat from flying out of your hands when you swing.

Improvise. Whenever I make things I don't take any measurements. Thats the way to do it. But if you really want to measure it out: 2.6 for the knob,1.3 for the handle, and the barrel is personal preference.
