I have had some people tell me that I have a dry sense of humor. If that's the case, then it must be humor that is centered around ironic things, sarcastic things, and the like.

It's called "dry" humor because it it delivered without emotion, in a "deadpan" manner. And like you said, tends to be sarcastic or sardonic. "Wry" is an adjective that describes the nature of dry humor.

I always think people with a dry sense of humor (people tell me I'm one of them, too) are ones that make cynical jokes with a straight face...they deliver the joke without any indication on their face or in their tone (besides sarcasm, perhaps) that's it's actually a joke. They rely on the people listening to "get" the joke. A problem that people have who make these kinds of jokes is that sometimes they are much wittier than the people they are talking to and a lot of jokes go by unnoticed.

Yes, I think you're right about the sarcastic things and stuff. Also, most people with a dry sense of humor are very intelligent, and other people don't understand their sense of humor.

Dry humour means that people have no other way of identifying you. It's too difficult. They need a brew to mull over it.
