It's very personal. If you feel protecting your loved ones is worth it then that is a good reason, but most jail considerations are not on defensive means. Offensively, how worthless your life is. Some inmates seems to have an easier life after being locked up.

Defending my right to live my life the way I want to. I'm a good person: I never steal from or hurt anyone. I actively desire to (and do) contribute to society. I am not at all a violent or ill tempered person. If I ever go to jail, it will be because something is wrong with the law.

It is worth jail to be punished.
To teach one a lesson so one can learn from that lesson.
-- That crime doesn't pay and never make the same mistake twice!
Freedom is a privilege, You do the crime then you do the time.

Nothing, if you're talking about state prisons. If you mean a cushy journalist's jail or a rich celebrity prison, then I guess swiping a cookie would be worth it.

going to jail is like giving up your life. so, what would you give your life for? how much is your life worth to you? what is your life worth to you? can you put a price on freedom?

To my flatmates - a really big chunk of hash.

To me - personal and familial protection of all sorts. They can take the hash when they take my flatmates.
