I think it's a bit of both, the teams he's gone off on are all under .500% and none of them are going to be in the playoffs. If they could stop somebody they might be able to make a run at the playoffs, that said Kobe is playing exceptional.....He's shooting over 50% in these games from the field and taking less shots than he has in the past when he's ended up with less points.
I still won't totally bow to Kobe until he gets 50pts on a Dallas, San Antonio, or Miami the better teams won't allow it. Phoenix doesn't count be cause they just try to outscore you, they don't make a effort on defense and that's why they will never win it all.....!!!!!!!!!

I really admire your question because it is legitimate. Kobe is a good basketball player, but at guard Jordan is still the standard
just as Wilt is still the standard at center. The teams are really
that bad. When some of these boobs compare Air to Kobe it
is an insult. How soon we forget. Michael had better speed and quickness, went to the hole better than any player that's ever
lived while taking the whole team with him; led the league in steals for season and i believe he is also 2nd or 3rd alltime,
dunked on 7-footers ala Ewing, Tree Rollins, had a radar type
jump shot, one of the all time clutch shooters ever, and was
the best closer of a game we ever saw. I know its Bryant's time but Michael is still the standard. He could have scored
50 every night, 70, 80 points clearly but after a while he bought into trusting his teammates. The other night when Kobe scored that 60 he took about 40 dam shots.Unbelieveable!!!!!!! He back to his selfish way of playing and the Lakers aint gonna win nothin that way. Kobe
and scoring 50, 60 on the Pistons, Bulls, or Spurs cause they
play defense. Jordan would score 50 on any team defense or not as he did against the Knicks, or anyone he played .
Im just sick of all these so called basketball experts playing
with Kobes jock strap calling him the greatest thing since
pockets on shirts. Please!!!!! give me a dam break.

Kobe is a great player, but to compare him to Jordan is wrong. Remember the Bulls were barely a playoff team (kinda like the Lakers now) before Jordan got some help too. And Lamar Odom is better than Orlando Woolridge.
MJ would have killed to have a big man as good as Shaq on his team. He won 6 titles with Bill Cartwright and Luc Longley.
Kobe is as skilled offensively as anyone. His defense is a bit overrated. Dwayne Wade has made him look bad on more than one occasion.
He makes All NBA defense because he's Kobe Bryant, not because he's a great defender.

Yes, he is that good. I used to hate him. But after seeing him score 50+ points in FOUR straight games, I wondered why I hated him. The reason he scoring so much is because Lakers coach Phil Jackson is letting him shoot whenever he wants. It's obviously helping the Lakers win. He has played the last four games against bad teams. Although last year, he did score 62 points in just 3 quarters against the Dallas Mavericks!!! I think that his scoring ability will be tested a lot more when he plays better teams. But seriously, he really is that good.

Kobe has a coach and a team that allows him to shoot at will. Most teams are not trying to stop him from scoring 50 pts per. They are ultimately just trying to win a game. Most teams can't be beat by just one player, and I think opposing coaches believe this and try not to over think their game plan. Let Kobe get his. Jordan could have done the same thing, but why? Kobe isn't going to win a championship until the team starts playing like a team.

Kobe is that good offensiveily but teams dont care if Kobe scores a 100, the main objective is to win the game.

Neither there are good teams out there Kobe scores so many points because he is a ball hog while he averages 30.5 ppg this season the rest of his team cant show their real talent with a ball hog like Kobe.

Who did Jordan score against?...Craig Ehlo?....The slow a$$ Celtics?....Jordan played against some of the worst
Defender's/ teams ever! Yep those 80 - 90's Net's teams were stellar!..LOL ...the 80's bullets..WoW!
If Kobe played against Craig Ehlo he would score 169pts...
come on man...you just a hater!...to easy!
yeah...Jordan had a REAL!..team..That was REALLY! good without him!....so much for the "he made them better" theory!
LOL.....
___________________________________---
Yeah! Henry C...(rolling eyes).....Jordan used to always jack up 35 - 40 shots a game just to score 40pts....and please..Jordan was not a better offensive player!....Kobe's offensive game is far beyond MJ's....recognize game when it's in your face!

its both. we all know that kobe is damn good, probably the best in the nba, but if you look at who he played when he droppped 50+, they are memphis, minnesota, portland, new orleans. none of those teams are in the playoffs, or above 500, and n/o and minny are fading out of playoff contention. he might have another 50 pt game against my team, the warriors, but if kobe plays SA or Detroit, i doubt he even goes for 40.
