Just asking for no reason. There has been a lot of stuff flying around comparing today's music to that of the old age. In my view, today's music is...well...how can I put this in a way that all ages can understand? Oh, I know. It sucks. Today's music sucks. Honestly, what do we have in today's music? Let me compare 2005-2007 in music so far: in the 60's, we had the psychidelic age where teens would get high and listen to In-A-Gadda-da-Vidda for hours.
The seventies gave way to a rock and roll revolution. Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, so many influential bands. We have metal opening its sickening eyes and disco is taking shape.
In the 80s, rap began to get bigger with rock and roll. Metallica dominated the era with the Thrash movement.
The 90's began giving way to Britney Spears and other pop musicians that thought they could sing. Rock was overtaken by grunge and rap suddenly began to dominate modern music.
Today: pop crud is rampid along with tabloids about celebreties.

After the fall of grunge, heavy metal came back as nu-metal, with such bands as Korn, Limp Bizkit and so many others. Nowadays, it seems that rap dominates todays music.
As you can already tell, I hate pop and rap. Rap is all about monkeys with gold chains talking about that night they slept with their girlfriends, and pop is just stupid. Just acoustic sobbing. Don't get me started on today's rock. Most of its either just acoustic or noise. Now, some of todays music sticks to the original molds.
And, with music, comes attitude. Emos.

Ya know, I agree with you. I don't like rap either...and I feel like today's music sucks. I could turn on the radio and every rock song I heard would sound the same...I love the music from the 70's and everything..it was original...all we have now is a bunch of sell outs who don't even care about the fans

I guess I need to know what kind of music you LIKE before I can really answer, but good music IS out there, you just have to know where to find it. I like to "try out" albums from the local public library, I've found a lot of good new artists that way. The stuff I like doesn't get played much on the radio unless it's an underground college station. If you have cable TV w/on demand that's a great way to "browse" new bands. I have been collecting music since I was 8 yrs old (I'm 46 now) and I still find new bands each year that I enjoy! Keep an open mind, look & listen & read reviews. Go to the library & do some research on bands you do enjoy, & see who influenced them. My tastes are pretty varied & eclectic, I like both old & new music as long as it's good quality. I love alot of British bands (Placebo, Suede, Pulp, Oasis, Bowie, Stones, Beatles) & new stuff by The Vines, Interpol, Secret Machines, Jet, & Muse. Anyway hope this helps you out.

Yeah, the popular music of today is terrible. I like rock music but the stuff on the radio makes me wanna throw up.

Agreed.

Though, every once in awhile, you DO hear an awsome song, at least by radio-play standards.

BTW, Fall Out Boy=sucks. Hard.
