modern? you mean it's not an antique flat screen? if it's glass you can use any glass cleaner. if by "flat screen" you mean LCD, then use only water or specialized cleaning solutions or kits as anything that contains alcohol can damage the pixels.

READ your owners manual.
This will tell you how to clean the screen.
Note that many are NOT glass and can be damaged by improper cleaning.

The very least you should use is a lint-free microfiber cloth. They also make surface sprays specifically for electronics, like Pledge Electronics Wipes/Spray (avail. at supermarkets)or any variety of the kinds they sell at computer/office supply stores.

A damp cloth and don't press too hard on the screen. You can also try using alcohol for the screen to get out smears... but please not too much!

I'm not sure HOW to clean it but it would probably get dusty if you didn't. Maybe a dry rag?
