What can we, normal people (student, teacher, buissnessman, etc.) do to reform, or help reform the United Nations?

I think not loosing hope in the organisation is an important start. Yes, the UN has had some failings - these have mainly been to do with Peacekeeping Operations, but it is important to remember all of the numerous positive things which have arisen through the organisation.
Instead of condemning the UN as a useless organisation, we must remember that is governed by the states who are its members - it does not exist on its own, nor does its decisions, triumphs and failings occur by themselves.
What can we do? We can support the ideals of the UN and try not to forget why it was created. We can acknowledge its successes as well as its failings.

Why would we waste our time and money trying to reform a failed organization. The U.N. is beyond useless and should be permitted to go the way of the dinosaur. They can begin by accepting crazy Chavez's invitation and moving their sorry a_ses down to Caracas.
We could use the valuable real estate in New York and would appreciate the additional parking that would be available by getting rid of these losers.

Start a Petition to abolish the United Nations, its a corrupt
Organization. Demolition is the only option.

...albeit, the UN born out of the League of Nations just never has had the solid leadership that will give it some muscle to make the "World" comply with the Worlds wishes... What can you do... not much... communicate with the State Department and voice your opinion...

Well since the US provide more the half of all the funding to the UN if you want to reform the UN all you have to do is get the US to threaten to withdraw all of their funding to the UN.

First and foremost, stand up for what`s right and what`s wrong.. We have way too many people with the power to stop wrong, and spread good, but they just choose not to, because of their own greed, power, and mainly false ego.
