The age was also marked by increased specialization and the invention of the wheel and the ox-drawn plow. Age began. "

As you can see, there's some disagreement. I'd go with the 3000 BC date for China/Asia.

In general era's ---> If you know anything of Old Testament times, King David's Israel was a Bronze age culture and the Philistines were an Iron age culture. (circa 1050-1010 BC) The shift was happening around that time.
Copper came into general use around 4000 BC, Bronze around 3000 BC and Iron around 1200 BC.
