Not a iguana if its ur first pet thats a really bad idea they get to big and they are really hard to care for and they scratch alot and take a lot of time

Leopard geckos are easy ones not to big not to small like u asked for and they are easy if u get a nice calm one u can stick ur hand in to the tank and it will climb right up to ur hand and just sit but the bad thing is they if u get it scared the tail does fall off and it will grow back but it will look weird and kinda of gross

Bearded dragons are easy ones too if u get one and get it really calm and not scared of u when its older it will just sit there and relax with u but they are bigger then leopards but not that big full size

U have to know that if u want a reptile that will just relax and not bit u u have to take time out of ur life and play with it and make it get used to u they dont just come tamed u have to slowly get it tamed to u

Good luck with the lizard your getting but make sure before u get one to do lots of research and to get the tank set up and make sure u want it and have the time for it befor getting one and if u have any questions make sure u ask also sometimes the pet store specialist dont tell u everything and the animals there arent very healthy

If you want a lizard that you can tame to be friendly I would suggest an Iguana. If you start with a Baby you will be able to tame it and make it a nice pet.
I have had 2 and they can be a very nice pet. But Remember there are special needs for any reptile. They require special food. a heated environment, light. Stones and Rocks to make their environment comfortable. They do require vet visits just like any other animal , but they go to special vets that deal with reptiles. You will want to look to see if there is one in your area.
A good place to start is the yellow pages.
Both for a vet and for a reputable pet breeder, or store that specializes in reptiles. Read up on the one you are interested in and make sure that it is the right match for you.
they can live quite long lives if they are kept healthy. So this isn't something to get for a year then dump when you're tired of it,
Also you can go to Petfinders.com and search in your area and state or national. We adopted a dog from this site.

Good Luck and I hope that you find what you're looking for.

U live in the dessert climate -where-in s cali-I caught all kinds of Lizards from gecco to aligator lizards, the worst is the indian lizard they like to bite. Look for one under pieces of wood and stuff-but u still have to set up a tank-with a hot rock-If you never took care of a fish-get a gold fish and keep it for 2 months then give it away or put it in a pond-it will show you how to take care of somenthing-if you want to do this message me and i will teach you how to take care of a gold fish so it lives-or a betta too-all u need is a bowl 9" or more to do this. In Jesus amazing grace that saved me and He is my best friend now-I am getting a dove they are my favorite pet -easy to care for and very loving-I let their wings grow out and chose to live with me or fly away. they will stay on your shoulder in your shirt and love you very sweet and they do not need a cage just a cardboard bottom with a piece of wood for a perch and are happy with water and wild bird food.

a desert climate is not a good idea for a chinese water dragon. a beardie yes and for your first lizard no iguana they are alot of work and become up to 7 foot long most people are not prepared for the expence and experience needed for iguanas once you have gotten the hang of it with a gecko, beardie or something that requires less work and you decide you want an iguana go for it but not for your first. just my opinion
