My guinea pig squeaked for one of two reasons, the first being he wanted attention and to be held, and the second because he was happy. Happy guinea pigs vocalize by squeaking... and unless you want to have a depressed guinea pig I wouldn't try and make it stop. If it is annoying you very much, I wouls recommend putting it in another location, out of your earshot.

I hope everybody is joking about the horrible ways to kill a guinea pig.... :-( Guinea Pigs do talk, they don't stop unless they are sick or very depressed. If it is really annoying you, Guinea pigs are not the pet for you. Don't deny it human interaction, bring it to the Humane Society and maybe get a Rabbit (they don't talk). Don't get other little rodents, they make noises like running in their wheels or chewing on their cage wires....
