Volunteer at the local hospital, work with the elderly, kids, animals. Contact the schools and see what they have to say. they are more than happy to get students that are tailor made.

It's very evident that you are already very concerned about your future and that is really good, however take it from someone who has been there you probably shouldn't worry about it just yet, I mean you aren't in high school yet and trust me you WILL change your mind at least once about the school you want and the career you want before you hit the 11th grade. I was the same way at that age and by the time I was a sophomore I changed what school I wanted to attend. But I want to try and answer your question so community service is a GREAT assest when it comes to getting into universitys, get involved in programs in your school like SADD, Student government looks really good as well, try to run for an actual position, i.e. president or secretary, this will show prospective colleges that you are driven and want to lead others not just follow orders from others. Make sure you develop good study habits and take the ACT/SAT test/s, try to get the best score you can, considering you can retake these it should be pretty simple if you study well and or retain knowledge well. Make sure you find the best school for the career you are looking to go into, I mean if you want to be a Doctor you don't want to go to a school that is a good school for the study of law. Do research, you can go on the school's website and fill out some info, concerning your area of interest and such and they will send you a packet of info on the school and the classes and activities they have that suit what you wish to study. I believe that most college websites ask for your enrollment year, if it doesn't go up to the year you graduate simply push it up a few years, it's not like you are commiting to attending this can also be good since they will continue to send you letters and class info for the upcoming semesters which will help you keep track of any additions or subtractions from the classes in the area of interest. I hope that helps!! Good Luck!

Well if you already are thinking of all these things you must be pretty serious and that is cool. Try to research the schools that you would like to attend and see what they require and look for in a student. If you know someone that attened or attends those schools it would be a good idea to talk to them. THey could give you some insiders on what you should sdo. the whole friend thing though, you should definetely hang around the right crowd. No druggies, drinkies, or anyone that could get you into trouble! Get into as many activities that sound fun, colleges look at well rounded people adn this would show that you are. Just dont get to busy , remember you are only in 8th grader! Good luck with w/e you choose.

I'm going to UCSD right now, and I did a lot in high school, but not as much as I wish I had done. I played Water Polo for 3 years, and I swam for 4. You may not think you are good at sports now, but neither was I. I was into theater in middle school, and then I got into sports in high school. Just look around and find one that you like. It's good to get involved. And FYI, my swim coach always told me that swimming is something that anyone can be good at as long as they put the time in the pool, so you could consider that as an option. I also did theater stuff for my first 2 years, and then I switched to the school paper, and was an editor for my senior year. And I was an officer in our Environmental club. I also just took the classes and got the grades that I thought colleges would look for. I took AP classes and studied hard for the tests so I could put high scores on my college applications. I'd reccommend talking to a counselor before starting your freshman year. They can help you roughly plan out your years in high school and put you on the right path toward the schools you are interested in. It's funny because when I was in 8th grade, NYU and UCLA were the 2 schools I wanted to go to. But you're only in 8th grade, so don't worry too much about it right now! My little sister is an 8th grader, and right now she's on her class trip to DC. I'm sure college is the last thing on her mind. Have fun for now, and worry about that when the time comes. Good luck!

Keep doing your best, you sound like you are taking an active interest in your future and I bet you're smart. Maintain a high GPA as this is the most influential factor in getting in college, make solid friendships to ensure that you don't get in trouble and not have anyone to talk to. A good social life is healthy and promotes good speaking abilities and thinking on your feet. Classes, well take the most challanging classes you can attain good grades in. And after school, people who participate in sports are less likely to fall into a myriad of problems studies have shown. Maybe you could get a scholarship even. But grades come before sports, roger? Then of course any community service helps. Be sure to keep track of your community service hours carefully. Don't trust them to keep a faithful record. Have fun!

well i dont know about those exact schools, but im in 8th grade too and they told us that college reccomendations are - 3 or 4 years in the same foreign language (i reccomend spanish cuz you will use it most) and 1 year of computer literacy. and 2 years of fine and performing arts (music, theatre, etc) and you should probably be like an a- average. try to take a lot of ap courses, and do clubs and volunteer work (doesnt matter what kind) and if you ever get something about doing honors national society or something like that DO IT cuz every college knows about it. and it doesnt really matter about your friends..
