Not a bad mix but try to keep the neon school at a minimum of six. You may want to consider one of the easier cory catfish as well to help scavenge up excess food. Becasue of the small size of the tank if you do decide to get "one of those sucker fish" ( a plecostumus) search around for a breed called a Clown Pleco. They are very diminuative and never get bigger than about 2 - 4 inches, perfect for a small tank.

Hope this helps.

As far as expense goes I've never seen a Clown pleco for more than $6.99. Very inexpensive compared to many other breeds, some of which I've paid 50 - 75 bucks for.

id go with a betta and 3 cory catfish, they only get 3 inches and are schooling fish and will be out of your bettas way and clean food scraps off the bottom, you could also add a small school of 3-4 oto catfish, they eat the algae, but wait until your aquarium has settled down first, i have found they are finiky fish. some bettas will make neons snacks from what ive heard. and mine likes to nip and eat my cleaner ghost shrimp which some hes ate are even smaller than neons. btw neons you buy nowadays die quickly. they get there own disease called the neon tetra disease, no im not making this up. if you buy a lot, more than likely you will have just a few if any left in no time.

I'd suggest a larger school of 8 neons and the betta. That's about it.

In reply to WillF, clown pleco's are very expensive, you'd be better off with a common bristlenose or any other bristlenose variety.
