I danced when I was 9. I am 26 now and my love for ballet dance has never died. I have a bad knee, but that shouldnt stop me.

when you say "bad knee", do you just mean a little sore, or do you mean you had an injury? if an injury, you would need an MD to say OK for resuming ballet after giving him your full history / records if there are any. if it is just a little sore sometimes, then go at your own pace, in EITHER case, make sure you PRECONDITION yourself with a month's worth at least of stretching & warm-up exercises, start light & gradually increase that are common to ballet. if this works out well, it is certainly NOT too late to resume something you love & that provides you with physical fitness, activity, happiness, strengthening, & conditioning. by all means, yes, more people should have this active of a hobby. this is similar, other than the tempo, to what is demanded of the body in yoga (stretching & balance), so if you could do that, you could certainly manage ballet! & so, a yoga class would be the perfect warm-up before you start again. best of luck & good for YOU!!!! no offense or anything but since you have a bad knee, you will not be able to do any ballet. i have taken ballet for ever and compete dances. trust me even if it is for a hobby i wouldn't try seeing as your 26 and would probably be in a class with 3 year olds

As a dance teacher, I would say it is never too late to get back into something you love. That being said, with your bad knee, I would take it easy. Try to steer away from pointe until you think your legs are truly strong enough.

there is a difference between being a student and doing it for recreational/hobby and being a Ballerina. but non the less NO its really never too late. strengthen your knees and TELL your instructor at your begining classes that you have an injury, wear a brace or support band!
enjoy and buy a book on terminology it will only help you!

If you have a bad knee you shouldn't do it. Sorry but you could really hurt yourself. Find love.
