Like I said before I am 38 weeks pregnant. I am 2 cm dilated as of Tuesday. Also I lost my mucus plug on Thursday. Now what my husband felt can or can not be the babys head? He was pretty high up there. Is it still ok to have sex? I didn't get any pains when he did that and felt something hard. So if Im 2 cm dilated shouldn't that if its my cervix start to soften? Or like I asked was it the babys head? SO SO SO SO confused....

you know, all these people telling you not to have sex are crazy! LOL! My doctor told me that as long as my water wasn't broken sex was fine. Even if your baby has dropped into the birth canal I don't think it would hurt it. IN FACT, if you want to give birth soon, sex can actually help the process to start by causing slight contractions of your uterus, like when u have sex when your not pregnant. 38 weeks is normal to have a child at, and I would think unless it causes you pain it shouldn't be a problem. Also, think about this, your husband penis is probably very sensitive, and something that is not neccessarily "hard" could feel hard to him. It may be your cervix getting a little bigger, and not feeling the same. I have and IUD that I got right after my son was born, and the strings that come out of my cervix are very soft. My husband says that when he pokes them the right way it fees like a needle to him. Anyhow, at anyrate, if your totally uncomfortabe, go to your OBGYN for a checkup, or page the nurse.
Good Luck! :-)

I am really not sure, but I know when the Doc was checking me to see if I dilated she said that she could feel the head right there, and I am not dilating yet.
Personally, that would creep me out and I probably wouldn't have sex, but I think it actually helps at this point and is recommended by some Doc's.
I would give yours a call and see what they think is going on here.

It probably isn't the baby's head. if you have lost your plug and are dilated that much, sex isn't a good idea. Your cervix probably won't soften until you are in active labor. It probably isn't a great idea for him to be "playing doctor" right now, anyway. You are open and bacteria could get inside you and harm your baby.

Is he wearing gloves that are sterile? You are risking a serious infection that could be VERY dangerous to baby. Call the dr. He might want to check you.

I would hold off from sex if you lost your plug, just to be safe, until I asked the dr.

only a medical practioner knows what a normal cervix feels like so unles you get answers from a nurse, doctor, or midwife i wouldnt listen to any of theses answers!!

good luck and have all the sex you want unless your water breaks cause that is what is technically protecting you baby!!

It is okay to have sex, until your water breaks, unless you are having complications. I had nurses and doctors telling me to have sex while i was dilated to 4, and stuck there for 3 months.

It is still very unlikely to have been the baby's head, unless your baby is engaged. Did you feel any pain whenever he hit the hard spot??

Unless your husband is a doctor and knows what he is doing I would just call the real doctor to be safe.

Don't be letting him "feel" up there..it increases your risk of infection which could make the baby sick as well.
