After the indicator light went on in my car ('03 BMW 330i) I originally thought it was a bulb issue but after changing all of them, the indicator light was still on.

I then noticed that the right side lights were consistently less bright than the left side rear lights. I checked the connectors and they look relatively good but maybe a cleaning is in order.

Any suggestions about what else may be up? Thanks!

Check for a bad ground. Clean the sockets up and make sure all screws are tight.

1. A defective flasher unit is the most probable cause.
2. Another cause could be the installation of the wrong type of lightbulb.
EXAMPLE: Turn signal or backup lightbulb in place of a brake lightbulb.
3. A defective bulb housing (short in connector or wires).

I agree with the person above. 99.9% of the time the housing or the socket is not properly grounded
