Do you mind being called 'black'?

I wasn't looking for people to get mad at me; I was just wondering what African-Americans thought.

I prefer not to use the term 'african-american' anyways, because it makes them seem like outsiders. I just wasn't sure if I should use the term 'black' because some of them might get offended. I find that people (even nowadays) make too big a deal of blacks (or any other racial minority); they don't treat them on the same level as white people. For example, both NFL Superbowl team coaches were black, and all the news reports were talking for a long time about how they were the first "African-American" coaches to make it to the SuperBowl. I mean, come on! Treat them like regular guys, don't make a big scene about the fact they're black.

No I don't mind being called black. I do hate being called African American though. I'm Jamaican, Irish and Indian and those are the parts of my heritage that I immediately identify with. I'm sure I had some random African relative somewhere along the line, but that doesn't make me completely African.

Its funny serenity you might have a black looking Avater but your American butt Could have a Black Great Grandmother it could happen,By the Way if your from Jamaica is it possible your parents were immigants from Africa!!!

Have you tried using the term .... a person?
I do not think that it's necessary to put a color or race to each person. Would you call me a "white person"?

why do you have to call them black. do they refer to you as white people? Or say we saw a Mexican and we can call him brown people. There is someone from Asian descent so lets call him yellow people?
Indians are red people and white people with freckles that's a hard one. I guess we can call them spot.
