This is really neat.

The early universe was just hydrogen (mostly) and helium.

Gravity pulled together some of the hydrogen and made stars. Inside the stars fusion reactions created carbon, oxygen, all the other elements. Near the end of their life some stars exploded, sending the elements into space.

Gravity pulled them together and made the solar system and everything in it, including us.

We are the stuff of exploding stars, gathered together in this tiny place in a very fortunate way. Just incredible.

If someone wants to look at that and say a Creator did it, there's nothing in science to say they're wrong.

The cosmic compression and resulting explosions of heat and energy condensed around floating space rock and eventually formed the universe, including our solar system.

A very popular theory is that a supernova shock wave impacted a nebula and compressed it. That started the formation of the sun and planets about 4.6 billion years ago. As the sun and planets got larger, their gravity collected more and more mater. Eventually enough was collected by the sun that the heat and pressure began fusion of hydrogen molecules and that "turned on" the sun.
