L.D 50 was the album that launched them into fame during the peak of the nu-metal movement, and the "End of all thing to come" was fantastic. But once the movement faded out and bands like slipknot, system of a down, and Korn were out of the picture while the hardcore scene took shape, Mudvayne kind of lost their momentum.

To answer your question, Mudvayne is one of the bands who have not changed their approach to music drastically in order to change with the time. Slipknot went soft, System did to compared to thier old stuff, and yes, Mudvayne toned it down a bit too but they still are awsome.

They are definetly a great "recording artist/band" but they seriously stink live. I love the songs from the albums, they can really tear it up. But the lead singer blows. Their live performances sound absolutely nothing like the recording of their songs, given, they usually don't with any bands out there, but good lord they suck live. I think there is some serious "behind the scenes" audio manipulation going on with their recordings. Just an opinion, though.
