what is the best instrument to start playing, piano or the electric guitar?

I have played both and I'd say the piano. It's a great basic instrument and it also teaches you how to read music. It is also used in band of all types so you aren't limited to one or two types. Not that guitar really does, it's just that some types of music require different playing styles on the guitar.

Now, in case you decide to play the guitar, start with the acoustic guitar. It will be a little hard at first and you probably will get some blisters and calluses but it will get easier. Therefore, when you start the electric your fingers are already "conditioned" for it.

Electric guitars are a lot of fun but pianos might be great to start with. They are the greatest instrument and help you learn the most about music.

It would most likely be piano. Piano leads to all sorts of other instruments. Kind of like the top of the food chain. A lot of musicians who play an instrument besides piano, play the piano as well.

It really depends on what kind of music you like. If you like classical, then obviously you'd want to go for piano. But if you're more into rock n' roll, you'd probably want the electric guitar. Of course, some rock artists prefer piano. You know, whatever works. If you have the time and money, I'd go for both. But if you can't, and if you like any kind of music, use one of these two immortal ways of making a decision-eenie meenie mini mo. Or just pick which one looks coolest. Or flip a coin.
Just kidding. (Although, if you want to use those methods...)

That depends but if you ask me piano because you can play it with any type of music but electric guitar would be just for rock type of music.

Piano is what I started and now I'm learning guitar, so that's my recommendation. Piano is easy and really useful, but guitar's also pretty fun...

I personally feel that guitar is easier to teach yourself if you don't want to take lessons, but when you play the piano you get better knowledge on notes and rythem. either way, both instruments are amazing so it's all up to you.
