i started bleeding a week after i took my plan b pill does this mean that it worked ?

You mean EC?

EC can cause menstrual changes. That includes spotting, increased bleeding, or starting your period at a relatively unusual time. The same thing happened to me when I took it - took the pills on a Saturday and started bleeding on Thursday. It's perfectly normal. :)

However, if you're still concerned about it, I would definitely recommend visiting your healthcare provider, so they can answer any other questions you may have.
