This year more than ever it seems like NCAA refs are favoring the higher seeded teams, or the big name players with their calls. It also shows in the statistics of the tournament if you look at them. I have been noticing that when a higher seeded team start going on runs, the officials put their whistles in their pockets and let the game be physical, but as soon as the lower seeded team starts a run, any kind of contact they make is a foul.

Refs have been really bad this year and they actually influenced a few games... ie Southern Illinois - Kansas.
Sad but true... hope it gets better, there's a reason they're given a whistle but they need to blow it at the right times the right way!!!

You must be one of those people like the media types who wanted to find "the next George Mason". One thing I will say is that the prime referees- and referees "advance" to the next round the same as the players do, tend to see the teams from big conferences more, so they know those teams better.
