I would say it is important to engage both sides of your brain when considering problems - or have people who think out of the other side (Depending on your dominant side) around you to ensure all the dimensions of a problem are well defined.
As an example - an engineer (most likely left brained analytical kind of person) comes up with a new technology - a radio, or a phone - great gadget on paper, works great, but takes another engineer to operate - the engineer is cool with that because that is the way he/she thinks, however, engaging a right brained person in helping to craft the final product will result in something that might be much more elegant and useful to the rest of us. Without both, there wouldn't be a product worth selling, but either alone wouldn't make it a successful product.

I learned in college psychology that you are neither a left sided thinker or are right side thinker it is just an old myth. You can be more one side or the other but as for me I am sticking with a little of both. Good Luck though!

Depends on what kind of thinking you prefer. Symbolic left, artistic right.
Generally accepted fact.
