Other than "He used steroids" because even if he did, he hasn't failed a drug test since it became illegal in baseball....Why do people hate Bonds?

I can't tell you why Barry shouldn't be in the Hall. He was a HOF player long before his head grew 2 full sizes (due to "alleged" perfromance enhancing drug use).

Why do people hate Barry? Barry appears to be a miserable, selfish person who cares about Barry and nothing more. Did you know: During the MLB work stoppage in '94, Barry went to court to try to get his child support reduced? Just goes to show how much he cares about his children. Did you ever notice how he uses them as human shields when he knows the media is going to be extra rough on him? He's been a jerk to the media and most all of his teammates, not to mention fans.

He was a great player...he became a great slugger, and now he's nothing more than a sideshow.

The truth of the matter is Bonds is a HOFer. So is McGwire. I am a fan of Bonds. I have been since 1987, his first full season in Pittsburgh. I hated the Pirates for re-signing Van Slyke, and not Bonds. If everyone is innocent until proven guilty, then let's wait for proof. By the way, if illegal drugs WERE illegal in baseball, there might not have been too many players in the 70s, seeing as how cocaine and amphetamine use were common then. Also, Paul Molitor, a HOFer, admittedly used cocaine during his playing days. Why is there no big push to get him banned?

To take the anti-Bonds argument, it is very simple. Barry Bonds could come out and say once and for all- I did not do steriods, and then answer questions about how he got so big at the end of his career. And let's be honest, guys in their thrities get heavier. It's just Barry Bonds won't answer those questions. To be far, the press has ganged up on him which doesn't help. Even though ESPN hired him last year to do a series, you can tell every baseball guy from Peter Gammons to Buster Olney to Steve Phillips hates him, and they are our primary national sources on baseball if we're not in San Francisco.

The idea that steroids weren't illegal in baseball is a red herring. Illegal drugs are illegal in baseball, have been for decades. Using illegal steroids is the same as using dope in terms of legality. So, to me, putting Bonds in the Hall is like putting an unrepentant doper in there. If he did a mea culpa, however, we would still have to deal with the fact that he did something that gave him an unfair competitive advantage. Plus, the guy is a jerk and poor teammate.

I think people dont like his attitude. Like his famous quote about there not being an 'i' in team but there is a 'm' and an 'e'. Or even him having his own personal big screen TV for the clubhouse. People just tend to hate others who might be cheaters and do really well.

I see all the people wanting to ban and condemn Bonds. If we do, shouldn't we go back and condemn Ty Cobb, Gaylord Perry, Don Sutton, Albert Belle, George Brett, John McGraw, Whitey Ford, Mike Scott, and the countless others I can't think of off the top of my head?

I say, until he admits it or comes up positive, then he deserves all of his accolades.

He is an great baseball player, yes. The image he portrays to the media is negative. If he has a more upset and positive approach to the media, I cannot see why he should not be voted in. I am saying this since Bruce Sutter, who had a brief career entered the Hall and my only reasoning is he was real close with the media or something, since the sportswriters elect the players.

For starters, people resent Bonds because he will be 43 before this coming season ends. And he is HUGE. There's something there just not right.

Don't forget that his trainer is the center of attention in the BALCO investigation.

And he supposedly committed perjury last year during his testimony.

And it was reported that he failed an amphetamines test last year, but because of baseball's new policy, he wasn't suspended. Had he failed the second test, he would have been suspended for 25 games.

I think the press hates him because he has in the past not been very nice and abliging to them.I personally think he has been a great player and nothing has ever been proven that he did take steroids but that does not take away the fact that is is a butthole and really not a team player.

Why shouldn't he make it? Pete Rose isn't in the Hall of Fame because he put money on his own team to win. If he did drugs, took steroids, beat his wife, and drove drunk, he'd be in the hall of fame. Just because something isn't deemed "illegal" in baseball doesn't mean it isn't morally wrong.

If Bonds makes it they should make a plaque for him in the shape of a giant syringe. I think he had some science going for him in the form of masking agents that hide steroids. If you have enough money then you can find anything you want.
