I agree with "G" 100%!
As for myself, it's kinda hard to narrow it down to just one song, "needle in a haystack" and all that. But I'm gonna go with one of my personal favorites: "Stakes Is High" by De La Soul. It came out in the 90's, but you can't go wrong with that one - great beat by the late Jay Dee (aka - J Dilla) and lyrics that actual mean something.

Can't help you with old rap songs, my favorites are Tupac, Biggie, and thats about it. Nas' first album, Illmatic, is a classic if you havent heard it. So is Jay-Z's Reasonable Doubt. But Im from the new school, and my favorite song is probably Still Fly - Big Tymers. This is when I first realized how amazing Mannie Fresh is as a producer, and he went on to make hot a** beats like Top Back - TI and Go DJ - Lil Wayne. Theres so many good songs though, anything Lil Wayne is probably gonna be hot. You should get his mixtapes, especially Dedication, Dedication 2, and Lil Weezyana. He spits like crazy, and he claims not to ever write anything down (hard to believe). But I have a question for you, YOU LIKE JA RULE? DONT YOU KNOW THAT HIS CAREER = OVER?

There are so many good ones I could never pick one. But some of my favorite artists are De La Soul, The Roots, MC Lyte, Big Daddy Kane, Masta Ace, Queen Latifah, Jeru the Damaja, A Tribe Called Quest, Bahamadia, Jean Grae, Stetsasonic, Digable Planets, Guru and many others. I prefer old-school east coast rap and jazz rap, but I like anything with a great beat and lyrics. I like these artists because they represent the authentic rap (at least their earlier works for some of them), it is nothing like the garbage that has been dominating for many years now.

"Keep Ya Head Up" by 2pac. That's a great rap. Very uplifting and motivating song for women, but even I like it, and I'm a dude. "I'm A Playa" by Tech N9ne is a pretty good one, too. He can rap, seriously. Very talented. "Family Business" by Kanye West is an awesome song as well. Kind of a sad song. There's so many more, I'll leave it at that.

I lovvvvvvve the Chronic 2001 CD w/Dre & Snoop. "Tha Next Episode" gives me happy chills. Snoop's "Doggy Style" CD is excellent also & NWA Straight Outta Compton is a classic! I guess I prefer that West Coast G S***!
