I'm sick of the "we're superior than thou" attitude. Stop being so condesending.

I watch anime, but I also like to watch real movies of whatever country and animation from other countries. I think it would be a bit boring if I would only watch anime and nothing else.
Hmmm, and I don't know people which would do something stupid like that.

I'm an anime fan and so are my other friends and Ive never seen any one of them put down other forms of entertainments sometimes i get bored of anime and tend to watch other forms of entertainment in order change up the routine or into ground me back to reality again but i don't think all anime fans are like that maybe you were just unfortunate and just meet the wrong the people

Um....I love anime and Im an anime fan but I've never put down any other form of entertainment before. and umm so the "anime fans always" part wouldn't be true. and I have never told anybody that "we're superior than thou" or anything. and its not only anime fans. it could be any fan. It could be a anime-disliker for all you know.

I love anime and when I say I prefer anime than this and that, it doesn't mean I am acting 'more superior than thou'.
When people talk about something that they love and really interests them, they talk like it's the only thing in the world and other people tend to misunderstand that. And there are also people who hate people who like animes and say bad things about them. It's all about personal preferences. It is not different from football fans who cheer and brag for their team and put down the other teams.

er... nope. i am an anime fan, and so are my friends(you should see how some of them go ga-ga over certain anime characters =.=). and when i browse through anime-fans forums, i dont come across such attitude either.
however, i guess that for some people, they are simply too caught up in their "fan-dom" that they forget everything else. lets say, if you were a manU fan, you wont probably go around thinking that chelsea,liverpool, etc. rocks right? you'd only root for your own team. its the same case with these avid fans, they think that anime is the best form of entertainment. if you say that, even though you are a fan, you wont go putting down other teams, then you are right. similarly, for majority of us anime fans, we may think that anime rocks and it is the best form of entertainment for us,but we dont close our doors to other forms of entertainment.
in any case, why should anyone bother themselves over a small minority of people? think about it: they are just being deprived(if they go to the extent of snubbing others, they probably limit themselves to anime and anime alone.. isnt that sad?) and infantile(ever seen kids at the playground going, "i dont care, mine is the best! yours is lousy!".. rings a bell?). we should hope that these people get over their "phases" soon.

i haven't experienced this before. also i am an anime fan and i don't act like this. i like other kinds of entertainment too. maybe some people do that but some people isn't everybody. maybe i haven't experienced this since i don't know too many anime fans. i don't know for sure. =)

I'm a very big fan of anime and I'm not like that at all neither are any of my friends, my bf, or other people I know so it's not all of us. It's stupid for the ones who are it makes no sense.

You got different people who think differently about certain stuff.
Sure you got those 'anime fans' who aren't so 'protective' about their 'precious anime' and then you those who think "OMG! ANIME IS LIKE TEH BOMB! CARTOONS SUCK! ANIME ROCKS MY SOCKS!" I do know people who are like this in real life...
I know how you feel though. Around my school, almost (but not all) 'anime nerds' are protective about their 'precious anime' and 'yaoi' crap. I know it's sickening and stuff about people complaining and all but that is because their are idiots and need to get a life; just ignore it. Anime won't last very long. It's just a fad now and it will go away soon.
