I personally think it has to do with genetics.

It may be caused by several things, this is just one theory. When a child is growing inside the mother up until a point, you could consider them all to be female. Then if it is going to be a boy the fetus is given a huge amount of male hormone, this causes it to begin to grow into a male physically. The process is repeated again later on in the pregnancy with another burst of male hormone. This time the brain development is affected making the child mentally male. If either of these bursts of testosterone are blocked or not given to the fetus the changes will not occur. So if a fetus gets the first burst and not the second he will be a homosexual, but if the first burst is missed and the second one happens she will be a lesbian. There could be many reasons it does not happen ranging from illness of the mother, trauma, and some drugs can affect this as well.

I think being most gay people are just born like that. Maybe 2 many hormones of the other sex, genetics? A conscious choice? Not usually. Of course, I think a lot of younger kids are more curious and experimenting because movies, TV shows and music are making it out to be more acceptable almost even glorifying it. I think that leads more to people being bi as opposed to gay. Which I think are different.

The way i see it is, everyone has a plan. i know it sounds weird but i belive that everyone has a set out plan for life on who there supposed to be and where there supposed to go. I think people who are gay are gay because they are ment to be. How ever it happens, i'm glad.

I heard on a documentary many years ago, that it's something a person is born with. As you say, it's already hardwired into those who are gay.

I chose to be straight since I had been taught that being gay was bad and I knew that I was good (I was always on the honor roll); BUT...
When I went through adolescence I found myself attracted to other boys and thought it was a phase...
When I went to college I lived in a fraternity house and let other brothers 'borrow' my room during parties where they could be alone with their date since I wouldn't be using it, but I thought that me not being sexually attracted to girls and thought it was a phase...
Finally in my mid 20s, I realized that an attraction to other guys that had lasted for 10 years was not a phase and me choosing to be straight was not a choice for me to make.
When I came out to my parents my mother told me that she had thought that I may be gay since I was 4, and that her and my father made every effort to steer me in another direction because life is more difficult for gay people. My parents not wanting me to be gay and myself not wanting myself to be gay for years didn't change the fact that I am gay. Being gay is an innate and unchanging part of me that I cannot change and, once accepting myself for who I was, made me happier person.
Besides my own feelings of being born gay, recent scientific studies have come to the same conclusions. Even the ultra conservative president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary has said said that scientific research "points to some level of biological causation" for homosexuality and "I am absolutely confident that a large number of homosexuals are telling the truth when they say they did not choose that orientation."
An October 2004 scientific research publication stated that scientists at the University of Padua have found that women tend to have more children when they inherit the same genetic factors linked to homosexuality in men. This fertility boost more than compensates for the lack of offspring fathered by gay men, and keeps the “gay” genetic factors in circulation. Mothers of gay men produced an average of 2.7 babies compared with 2.3 born to mothers of straight men. And maternal aunts of gay men had 2.0 babies compared with 1.5 born to the maternal aunts of straight men.
Another study published in Human Genetics in February 2006 examined X chromosome inactivation in mothers of gay sons and mothers whose sons were not gay. Normally, X chromosome inactivation occurs at random: half of the cells in a woman's body will have one X chromosome inactivated, while the other half inactivates the other chromosome. Researchers found that in about a quarter of mothers who had at least two gay sons every single cell in these women inactivated the same X chromosome while only 4 percent of mothers with no gay sons showed this type of extreme skewing.
A Canadian university study published in June of 2006 stated that, although researchers have known for years that a man's likelihood of being gay rises with the number of older biological brothers, that the new study found that the so-called "fraternal birth order effect" persists even if gay men were raised away from their biological families.
A January 2007 Australian report suggested to be gay you need to receive one gay gene from both parents, and that those with only one gay gene have a selective advantage because they are heterosexual but have increased style, male sex drive, charm and seductiveness towards women.

Quite simply, some boys recieve more feminine hormones in the womb and some girls receive more masculine hormones, resulting in them having characteristics of the opposite sex, e.g. emotions for boys, tomboy natures for girls, AAAAAAAND attractions to their own gender!
