I seem to always have problems with people I work with. No matter how much I try to meet or exceed my expectations I seem to always find people yelling at me and insulting me. The seem to be trying to control me by humiliating me. This may seem ridiculous but I find it very troubling. How can I put a stop to this, as all I want is a safe and simple place to work. I am a waiter at a restaurant and many staff are rude to me. But all I wanna do is help and work hard. I sometimes think that this is the way it is because others are jealous of me and feel a need to compete with me, but I work as a team member. I get no respect. It drives me nuts. I think this is the way the boss wants things. He doesnt want me getting to comfortable, as doing good work doesnt seem to be enough. I would like to get another job but I think this is the way it is everywhere. Can some one offer some good advice?

You must be doing something to elicit this type of behavior. You say this happens everywhere you work? There must be something about your personality that annoys people. Ask a very good friend, or someone that you could trust, and tell them to be honest! I know that where-ever I go, people love me --- so how can this happen everywhere you go?? The world just doesn't work that way -- sorry, man, but it's got to be you.

First up - think of anything you might be doing that's putting people off and then try to stop doing it. This may involve a "what your problem with me?" type of conversation with the people involved. Then go from there.

Second - try your best not to care about the people who just don't like you, there's probably not much you can do about it anyway. Keep yourself focused on you and what it is you're doing. If you're on good terms with anyone else, make it a point to help your friends. Let your enemies solve their own problems with out you.

Third - Try to limit any interactions with people who don't like you and whom you do not like. Can't hurt you if you're not there.

Lastly - if it really comes down to the short and nasty, post followup questions on how to get even.

well, first off, welcome to the world of idiots.... It looks like your co-workers wouldn't know a good hard day of work from the next one... I think that they are jealous of you and your spirit to convey a positive light within customer service... It is hard to believe that your boss would tolerate this kind of childish behavior. He/she should be thanking you for your loyalty since it is the front line employees, like yourself, who could make or break his/her business....

If it truly bothers you to work there with that kind of nonsense I would look for employment elsewhere.... and then quit... see who has the last laugh then

I just ignore them. What I would do is talk to your boss about it. Here is exactly what I would do: Come into your bosses office (knock first) and ask him/her if him/her can do something about it. If they can't I would find a new job.

Hope You Have A Nice Day,

To attack some one in this manner is not management, It is assault.
