Are you an open door kinda family or a closed door kinda family? Anyone can answer. However, this question is sorta geared towards people who don't have preteen and teenage children. I mean after all, teaching modesty isn't a bad thing.

Great question, you silly monkey :)

Open for #1, and Closed for #2 ... My husband does it the opposite way... strange, huh?

With just the wife here we mostly close the door if the other is near by, but don't consider it a big deal if the door is open. When our sons are home to visit (21 and 25) we all close the door to protect privacy. But we have 4 toilets in the main floors of the house and one in the finished basement as well, so there is plenty opportunity for privacy even if the door is left open to the toilet room.

I have a teenage daughter (nearly 19). She and her Dad (separately, of course!) close the door. With her, it's definitely modesty; I'm not too sure about her Dad.
I close the door to keep out the cats because they (like little kids) tend to try and bug me whenever they sense I'm "locked in" to something (such as yapping on the phone...or answering nature's calls).

Closed door when hubby's home. During the day when it's just me and my 3 year old and 2 year old at home, I'll leave the door open so I can hear them..

Hmmmm... It's always been pretty much open-door in my house, and we do have kids, 14 and 9. I have to disagree with you, I think our culture is a bit over-obsessive about so-called "modesty."

Well, my step dad keeps the door open! my lil brother keeps the door open but me and my mom keep the door shut. but my brother still barges in to make sure I am not doing any thing special with out him..... SO I guess you can call it an open door family...
