It depends on what sort of accent you have. If you were born in England, or thereabout, it would be pronounced with the "are" sound. In America, such words are typically pronounced with a short "a" sound.

The official pronunciation is the 'are' sound which is prevalent in the South of England although people from the North of England use the short sound like the Americans. English pronouncing dictionaries in the UK favour the 'are' sound.

In England people from the North like Manchester would use the short 'a' sound - the long one does sound posh, people from the South would prononce it the long way too. I prefer the way we pronounce it in the north to be honest!

It depends on your accent. How do YOU pronounce it?
As a general rule of thumb, it's the first way in the north, and the second way in the south. Both ways are correct - it just depends where you come from, and you haven't told us that.

Depends on region, but I pronounce it with the long sound, and get rather a lot of stick for it! But that is the proper way!

well it depends on where you are from.
Here in Texas - you would pronounce the "a" sound in bath the same way you pronounce apple
Now somewhere else it might be pronounced different

It genuinely depends on your accent.
In Scotland, we have bahths.
In England, they have barths.
In New Zealand, they have beths.
There is no right way to pronounce some words.

It really depends on where you come from. In the north east, it is almost a cultural sin to say b-ar-th. Let's face it, there's no 'r' in the word, is there?

It all depends on what part of the country you're from, there is no right or wrong way! I personally say the 'are' way.
