Actually the word psychology came from the Greek word psyche which means "soul"; in today's terms, combination of mind and soul, including capacity for reflective thinking.

psycho, means of the mind.
psychiatrists diagnose illnesses or disabilities of the mind.

Actually this involved very little thought and isn't the slightest bit ironic, they're both derivative of the word psyche. Both psychologist and psychopath share the same root word because obviously they're both centered around the same concept, which is the human mind, nothing weird about it.

Psyche was the Greek concept of self, soul or mind.
Psychology, thus, is a science of the mind, in layman's terms.
Psycho came from the word psychology.
I'm sure you can see the resemblance.

I think you know the answer to this, but you are suppressing it. I have know children of many mental health professionals, and they all are in need of profound mental health assesment (due to daddy??)

Duh, psychiatrists.. the correct spelling. Psyc means/refers to mind.

The work "psycho" is slang and not used by the mental health profession.
