i have msn as usual and i have a webcam, but somehow i just cant turn it on because im shy about what they will say about how i look (ugly for example). i have my pc in the front room and the tv is behind me, so my dad watches it.. its just embarrassing for me! should i just be confident and turn it on?..

Only do what makes you comfortable. Do you know these people? If not, don't do it since it's dangerous to show yourself/give info to strangers. If you know the people, why not, they've all seen you in real life. Your dad is just looking out for your safety, that's why the computer is where he can see it.

I thought about being confident once. I turned my webcam on, and lost every friend I ever had on the internet, which were my only friends. Now I sit around and sulk in drunken gloom, awaiting the day i die of alcohol poisoning.
But yeah, feeling confident's great. Do it. Right now. Unless you're ugly or rotund, in which case, spare us.

If it's someone you don't know, then no. Would your dad mind if you went on webcam? as long as you don't do anything.. over the line. if it's your friends, then why not? they already know what you look like & have seen you at school and stuff.

yes u should. no confidence is a turnoff. who cares if u might be ugly....imagine how many ugly people THERE ARE in this world. its ok. and the last thing i said wasnt supposed to be mean to the world. oops :)

You bought it that takes confidence. Why not, but use for appropriate reasons and not stripping or showing parts of your body.

I turn mine on all the time and if your talking to true friends they don't care about looks anyway they like you for you

well how embarrassing would that be if your dad wanders over "what are you doing?" and you're talking to some random stranger and your dad would be like "oh what are you talking about. why are you on cam" i dont think your dad would appreciate it.
