The group is from Arkansas, the lead singer is female and sort of gothic, and they are in their mid to late 20s. They had a big hit song a few years ago but I cannot think of it's name or of the group's name.

You may be thinking of Evanescence. From Little Rock, Arkansas, the lead singer is Amy Lee, and the style is definitely sort of gothic. ^_^ The hit song was probably "Bring Me to Life", their first really popular song, or "My Immortal" which became popular a few months later.
