I have both. The DS one is the one you can travel to other towns on, and if you have wireless internet (or anything other than dial up), that is definently the one to get. The Gamecube one is not so good in my opinion, the town is just way too big, and it feels like it should of been made for nintendo 64 (ironically, it was made for that in Japan). Both games have top rankings from internet review sites. The fan base is still phenominal for the games considering that the newest one is over a year old. If you want to learn more about the game, I strongly suggest that you check out http://www.animalcrossingcommunity.com , I'm staff there (w/same name), and I'd be glad to help you with the site and the game. One of the the great things there is that you can easily find people to trade with, and the people are nice.

What do you want to know? It's basically a game where you make your own little life and participate in various activities such as fishing and clam-digging. You can buy better houses and travel to other people's towns (if you have internet on the GC, and I think it works on Wii). It is a pretty fun game.

yea i do i have the 1 4 gamecube but i dont have the 1 on ds,but i like playin dat game it is so much fun 2 play
