Hard to say.

Although, I drive a 91' Chevy truck, and when my fuel pump started going out, it would crap out under accelaration if it were under half a tank.

Eventualy, it wouldn't get on the freeway, and at the end, it would only idle.
Replaced fuel pump, and now it runs fine.

How low??

If it is realy low and it splutters around corners then put petrol in!!

If it were a fuel filter it would stall all the time
