Distributive Property of Multiplication with Respect to Addition
For all real numbers a, b, and c:
a(b + c) = ab + ac
(a + b)c = ac + bc
Distributive Property of Multiplication with Respect to Subtraction
For all real numbers a, b, and c:
a(b - c) = ab - ac
(a - b)c = ac - bc
I usually remember that distributive is easy because I am breaking apart a more complex problem into two simpler problems.
As far as simplifying, in algebra when you have a simplifying problem where there are a number of parentheses, it can look like a difficult problem, but it doesn't have to be, because a complicated problem is just several simple problems if you take it one step at a time. When you have several sets of parentheses inside each other just work from the inside out. Do as much simplifying inside a set of parentheses as you can, and when you can do no more, then get rid of the parentheses by using the distributive property. Then progress to the next set of parentheses out and do the same thing. Continue like this until all the parentheses are gone and all the like terms are combined.
It is also a good idea right from the beginning to change all subtractions to adding the opposite. If you can think of it this way without writing it, that is okay too, but whatever you do you always at least think of all the subtractions you see in algebra as addition of the opposite even if you don't write them that way. This is part of a general principle that you should always follow with respect to leaving out steps in algebra, which is that you should never leave out a step if you are not really doing it in your head. At the end of your problem you should write your addition of opposites back as subtraction, because it is shorter that way, so better form.

ok ready. first lets start with the distributive property. if the equasion is 3(1+2) to get rid of the parenthases you would multiply the 1 and 2 by the number directly out side of the parenthases. so the answer would be 3+6 after distrubuting then just solve the problem. to simplify algebraic equasions just follow this rule
Parenthases
Exponents
Multiply
Divide
Add
Subtract
in that order and you will simplify your equasions hope i helped.

the distributive property is actually very simple. All you have to do is multiply one term with other terms. for example, lets say you have the expression 2(x+2) Multiply the 2 with every number inside the parenthesis, so you get 2x + 4. because 2 times x is 2x and 2 times 2 is 4.

Hmm....Distributive property is...
a(b + c)
a(b) + a(c)
then solve... simplifying algebraic expressions...
2x + 3y - 2 + 3x + 6y + 7
This expression can be simplified by identifying like terms and then grouping and combining like terms, like this:
· 2x and 3x are like terms, and can be combined to give 5x,
· 3y and 6y combine to give 9y, and
· -2 and 7 combine to give +5.
So after simplifying, this expression becomes:
5x + 9y + 5
Good Luck!!!

um sure i geuss........... look at this problem:
3 x 3Z x 2B + 6Z - B + 1 = 4x9ZxB
3+1=4 , 3Z+6Z=9Z , 2B-B=B
i hope this helped...........if it didnt then than it probubly confused u more so sorry about that......... maybe u could stay after school for ur teacher and she can help u i geuss..........thats what i had to do and now i kno how to do it ......luck!
