A "brick" is a very bad shot that is usually way off target. It is like throwing a heavy brick instead of the basketball and often hits a part of the rim or backboard in such a way that is makes a loud noise like a brick or quickly bounces away like a brick.

Brick is when Shaq shoots a free throw! really ugly missed shot... some people shoot so many bricks (Tim Duncan for example) that it looks like they're building a house up there on the rim!!!

When you shoot it short of the rim. Joker is right it's like throwing a brick because it doesn't go as far as usual and it hits absolutly nothing it is meant to
