I can get a clipping from a healthy white flowering dogwood, is it possible to use this to start a new tree.

I've never heard of it however if you want to try, Suggest getting root tone. This is a Vitamin powder for aiding in rooting cuttings. wet the end which was nearest the tree trunk and dip it in the root tone. then place it in a bucket of compost. Keep it damp until it roots, if it will.
Dogwoods are difficult event to transplant. Have tried several times. A friend told me to place the plant in a 5 gallon bucket. She said to cut the bottom out of the bucket and bury it with the plant inside. This, she says will prevent shock.
