We mechanics are grouped in with layers. Not fair. You drive your car and we have to figure out what happen to it. We are not trying to rip anyone off. I would put that blame on the shop owner. I don't know how many fights I have had with the owners about over selling. We don't make millions, we work long hours and have to constantly upgrade ourselves. If you can do it yourselves, then find out what we do every day.

For $80 an hour I expect the plumber to know what he's doing too! If you don't know how to diagnose and fix a car properly the first time, you should expect people to say you are a crappy mechanic ... get used to it.

Well most mechanics, although I have not seen an honest one, are not honest. Sometimes they are even less intelligent than their job requires them to be. One time just to change my oil the mechanic drove my car out of the shop saying he is testing the breaks in a very stupid way that I would never drive as such.

There are dishonest people that will do anything for money as in any profession. But if you find yourself a good honest mechanic treat him very well !

because they rip you off...like saying you need a new starter when your car starts up fine after a minute or two and charge you $197 for it when it only costs $60 at autozone.
